Mayor Kevin Ruane serves as the Council liaison to the Audit Committee (currently sunset) and the Police Officers’ Pension Board of Trustees. He is the Chair of the Florida Municipal Insurance Trust Board of Trustees (FMIT), a member of the Florida League of Cities Mayor’s Roundtable and a member of the Investment Management Committee for the Florida Municipal League. Mayor Ruane is the liaison to the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), the Tourist Development Council (TDC) and the Employee Dependent Scholarship Committee. The City of Sanibel Planning Commission liaison is rotated among the Councilmembers.
Vice Mayor Mick Denham

Vice Mayor Denham serves as Council liaison to the Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council (RPC) and is a member of the Regional Watersheds Committee. Vice Mayor Denham serves as a voting delegate to the Florida League of Cities and serves on the Florida League of Cities Energy and Environmental Quality Legislative Policy Committee. The Vice Mayor also serves as alternate Council liaison to the General Employees’ Pension Board of Trustees, Police Officers’ Pension Board of Trustees and the for Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPO). The Vice Mayor has also been appointed to the Regional Planning Council Executive Committee, Strategy team and Sustainable Communities HUD Grant team.The City of Sanibel Planning Commission liaison is rotated among the Councilmembers.

Councilmember Doug Congress serves as Council liaison to the City of Sanibel Vegetation Committee and to the General Employees’ Pension Board of Trustees. He is Council liaison to the Community Housing Resources Board of Directors (CHR) and CHR’s Coast and Island Community Land Trust and alternate liaison to the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). Mr. Congress also serves on the Finance and Taxation Legislative Policy Committee. The City of Sanibel Planning Commission liaison is rotated among the Councilmembers.

Councilmember Jim Jennings serves as the Council liaison to the City of Sanibel Parks and Recreation Committee and the Recreation Financial Assistance Committee. Mr. Jennings also serves as liaison to the Southwest Florida League of Cities. He is the voting delegate to the National League of Cities. The City of Sanibel Planning Commission liaison is rotated among the Councilmembers.
