2008 Hurricane Seminar ScheduleCitizen’s Guide to New Emergency Generator Regulations to be Distributed
At 1 p.m. on Monday, July 21st and Thursday, August 21st, the City of Sanibel will sponsor two Hurricane Seminars for Sanibel residents, property owners, business owners and island workers. Each attendee will receive a copy of the City’s new publication, “A Citizen’s Guide to the City of Sanibel’s Emergency Electrical Power Generator Regulations.” Additionally, 2008 Hurricane Re-entry Hang-tags will be available for residents and property owners with appropriate documentation at the conclusion of each seminar.
It is very important to take the time to attend one of these Seminars to ensure you receive important information on the City’s new Emergency Electrical Power Generator Guidelines, and Hurricane and Emergency Management Plan. The seminars will be held at the BIG Arts Center located at 900 Dunlop Road, are free and open to the public.
Featured Speakers
- City of Sanibel Planning Director Robert Duffy will review the new City Generator Ordinance.
- The City of Sanibel’s weather consultant, Dave Roberts, will provide weather related information on how a hurricane forms, where and when they are most likely to form, dangers associated with the different categories of hurricanes, and the dangers of storm surge.
- Lee County Emergency Operations Planning Chief, Gerald Campbell, will review Hurricane planning for families and their responsibilities.
- Lee County Electric Coop Supervisor of Energy Services Doug Barker will provide safety tips for generator usage.
