COMMUNITY ALERT! Suspicious Incident

Last evening, the Sanibel Police Department received a report that on Saturday, August 23, 2008, a white male in his 40’s driving a small white four door vehicle pulled alongside several children attempting to engage them in a conversation for several minutes.

The male was described as having short grey hair in the back with spiky grey hair on top. The male did not have facial hair or glasses.

This incident occurred at the corner of Jewel Box and Angel Drive. The suspect did not get out of his vehicle, nor did he ask the children to approach his vehicle.

Chief Tomlinson stated “Please remember to instruct your children not to engage in conversations with strangers and not to be enticed by strangers with gifts.” If any person attempts to lure or entice your child or commits any suspicious act, call the Police Department immediately at 472-3111.

This person of interest is wanted by the Sanibel Police Department for questioning and clarification regarding the incident. If you have any information that can lead the Police Department to this individual, please contact Detective Mark Steele at 472-3111.
