COMMUNITY ALERT! Vehicle Theft
The Sanibel Police Department is currently investigating a motorcycle theft, which occurred August 30, 2008, on Sanibel. The theft of this inoperable motorcycle was from beneath a Beach Road residence.
The theft of the motorcycle coincides with a recent suspicious incident and possible attempted burglary also on Beach Road in which unknown perpetrator(s) attempted to unlock the front door to a residence.
Sanibel Police Chief Tomlinson advises every resident to “make sure you lock your storage rooms and doors to your residence and take extra precaution when leaving your vehicle. Remove anything that looks valuable from the passenger compartment and put it in the trunk keeping them hidden. That includes backpacks, briefcases, cell phones and laptop computers. Keep the windows rolled up and the car locked, even when the vehicle is parked at your own house.”
If you have any information that can assist the Sanibel Police Department with this investigation, please contact Detective Mark Steele immediately at (239) 472-3111. The Sanibel Police Department appreciates the public’s assistance in this important matter.
