City Recognizes Maret School for 25 Years of Sanibel-Based Education Program
The Maret School, based out of Washington, D.C., has offered its students a subtropical zone ecology summer course program on Sanibel for 25 years.
Students from this year’s program, the Sanibel XXV school group, met with City Councilmember Doug Congress on June 24th to have their questions about the Island answered. As part of its summer program, the Maret School offers students four weeks on Sanibel and two weeks in the Florida Keys.
While on Sanibel, the students study marine science and environmental philosophy, in addition to individual research projects. The Sanibel XXV school group and its leader, David Walker, donated $200 to Community Housing and Resources in Congress’ name to show their appreciation.
