ENGINEER KEITH WILLIAMS II, P.E. NAMED CITY OF SANIBEL PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR
Today, Sanibel City Manager Judith Zimomra announced the appointment of Keith Williams II, P.E. to the position Public Works Director. Williams has been employed by the City of Smyrna, Georgia since 2007 where he served as City Engineer.
Among his responsibilities during his tenure with the City of Smyrna, Williams was responsible for:
- Administering floodplain ordinance, city and state stream buffer ordinance and federal, state and local erosion, sedimentation and pollution control guidelines
- Managing and executing the Multi-use trail plan
- Managing the City transportation infrastructure
- Coordinating City transportation planning and project prioritization
- Reviewing zoning site plans, land development permit plans and final plats
- Serving as City liaison to FEMA, Georgia EPD, Atlanta Regional Commission, County DOT among other agencies
- Serving on City of Smyrna License and Variance Board
As the Sanibel Public Works Director, Williams is responsible for providing safe, well maintained roads, shared use paths, parks, public beach accesses and maintaining the City’s buildings and vehicles at the prudent cost. He is also responsible for overseeing the City of Sanibel’s Utility Department and reuse water services.
Williams earned his Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Civil Engineering with a minor in Environmental Engineering from the University of Tennessee.
Williams replaces Gates Castle who retired from the City in April, 2012 after 20 years of service with the City of Sanibel.
Williams and his wife Tiffany are the parents of three sons, Brayden, Landon, and Jackson.
