Fertilizer Preemption Bill Committee Vote 8 am, Wednesday, January 18th
Act now to protect our water!

HB 421 (House Bill 421) – The right for local communities to protect their waters will be on the House Community and Military Affairs Committee agenda 8 a.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2012

The City of Sanibel has been a leader in the State by adopting local legislation to protect local waters with reasonable regulations on Fertilizer application during the rainy season. Our Florida legislators are debating the right of local governments to protect our own waters. The next step in this debate is a vote at 8 am, Wednesday, January 18th by the House Community and Military Affairs Committee. A member of our local legislative delegation, State Representative Matt Caldwell, serves on this Committee. You can help protect our waters by contacting Representative Matt Caldwell and asking him to VOTE NO ON HOUSE BILL 421.

Representative Caldwell has supported Sanibel in the past. This year the lobbyist from the fertilizer and agriculture interest are placing significant pressure on the legislators to take away our right to pass local legislation needed to keep our waters clean. You can access Representative Caldwell via his email address below or by calling either of his offices Tuesday, January 17th. Thank you for your help.
