Sanibel Recreation Department Recognizes Volunteer of the Month Katherine Strange

The City of Sanibel Recreation Department would like to recognize Volunteer of the Month Katherine Strange.

Katherine Strange joined our team of Junior Volunteers with the Sanibel Recreation Center during the summer of 2011. She volunteered with the youth summer camp program helping the counselors set up games, organize arts and crafts and other maintenance duties. Being a volunteer with the youth programs has taught Katherine Strange to be understanding and to have patience while working with children. Additionally it has provided her with a great opportunity to meet new friends. When asked her comments about the Sanibel Recreation Center she replied, “The Sanibel Recreation Center is a great place with caring, fun and creative counselors. It is a place where a kid can go to hang out with friends and have an amazing time going to different unique places on field trips”.

Katherine Strange graduated from the Sanibel School in 2011 and has attended the Sanibel Recreation Center youth programs since she was 9 years old. She is now a high school freshman in the Fort Myers High School International Baccalaureate program. In her free time Katherine Strange enjoys hanging out with her friends, playing sports and volunteering her time at the Sanibel Recreation Center where she can catch up with old friends and the younger kids she’s met there over the years.
