The City of Sanibel Recreation Department would like to recognize Volunteer of the Month Susan Brown.
Susan Brown is an active member at the Center 4 Life where she also volunteers much of her time with several of the activities held there. She has volunteered there for 3 years now and enjoys working so closely with the Program Administrator, Sandi McDougall, as well as the other members and staff at the Center 4 Life. As a member, Brown enjoys “Bridge for Fun” nights on Mondays and Wednesdays and the potluck entertainment during season.
Browns favorite part of being a volunteer is the friendships she has made and working hard to make events special and enjoyable for everyone. She loves to help people and see them smile. When asked her comments about her volunteering experience, Brown replied, “I feel a great deal of gratitude for being allowed to be part of such a warm, friendly place. The Center 4 Life is like a second home with its members being an extended family. We are fortunate to have such a great facility with so many choices of activities at affordable prices.”
Brown, a Georgia native grew up in Atlanta and graduated from Georgia State University. She and her family have been visiting Sanibel for over 35 years. Knowing her and her husband, John, would want live here after retiring they purchased a lot in 2001 and built their home. The Browns have one daughter who lives in Tampa and a 2 year old Jack Russell Terrier named Britainye who enjoys taking walks on the Sanibel beaches every morning and evening.
