Sanibel Recreation Department Recognizes Volunteers of the Month David & Madelaine Rohn

The City of Sanibel Recreation Department would like to recognize Volunteers of the Month David & Madelaine Rohn.

David and Madelaine Rohn began volunteering at the Sanibel Recreation Center in 2010 when they helped with the mulching project at the Recreation Center as well as at the New Year’s Eve event. Mr. and Mrs. Rohn’s favorite part of being volunteers is meeting fellow island residents who give their time here and getting to know the members of the staff better. When asked how volunteering at the Sanibel Recreation Center has impacted their life Mr. and Mrs. Rohn responded, “It keeps us active and useful; helps us make new friends and is partial repayment for a debt to those who created this island paradise and this wonderful Recreation Center”.

Mr. and Mrs. Rohn have lived most of their lives in Indiana where they raised three children and several “foster” children. They spent their honeymoon on Captiva and regularly vacationed on Sanibel and Captiva. Three years ago they chose to retire on Captiva part-time and spend no-see-um season in Vancouver, British Columbia. Mr. and Mrs. Rohn are very active and enjoy kayaking and biking.
