Status Report of Middle Gulf Drive Closure
A break in a 2” lateral service connection to the City of Sanibel’s reclaimed water system is the cause of the Middle Gulf Drive road closure.
Approximately 90 minutes ago, the road was closed due to compromised pavement. Contractors currently working on the island have been mobilized and repairs are underway. NO utilities have been impacted.
The compromised area located between the 1600 to 1700 blocks of Middle Gulf Drive, appears to be approximately 20’ x 20’. Middle Gulf Drive has been closed to thru traffic from Fulgar Street to Casa Ybel Road. The road is open only to local traffic. Motorists are advised to follow the directions of the Police Officers along the route.
