Tropical Storm Isaac is currently a weak tropical storm with sustained winds of 45mph that continues to move west in the Caribbean Sea. Isaac will impact the Lesser Antilles today on a path toward the Dominican Republic early Friday.

TROPICAL STORM ISAAC

The City of Sanibel is currently monitoring the development of Tropical Storm Isaac.

Tropical Storm Isaac is currently a weak tropical storm with sustained winds of 45mph that continues to move west in the Caribbean Sea. Isaac will impact the Lesser Antilles today on a path toward the Dominican Republic early Friday.

The current forecast is that Tropical Storm Isaac will become better organized with increased thunderstorm activity around the center of the storm. Isaac is expected to continue to strengthen and become a Hurricane over the next 48 hours as it moves west through the Caribbean Sea.

Sanibel residents are reminded to have their Family Hurricane Plan ready for implementation should the need arise. Hurricane Re-entry Passes are available at the Sanibel Police Department Monday-Friday 8a-4p.

City staff will continue to monitor the progress of Tropical Storm Isaac and release pertinent information as it becomes available.
