WASTEWATER PLANT OPERATOR I: The City of Sanibel is currently accepting applications for the position of Wastewater Plant Operator I, to operate and regulate the collection, treatment and disposal of wastewater in compliance with laws, regulations and procedures including recording the daily operation of pumps, including pressure, flow readings, pump hours, chlorine usage and levels, and pump function, taking corrective actions required. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, a Florida Class “C” Wastewater Operators License and a minimum of one (1) year of experience in wastewater treatment operations and maintenance or a related field. State of Florida driver’s license required. Candidates will be screened for interview purposes based on experience in wastewater operations or related functions; and must be willing to work irregular hours during severe weather emergencies. Salary range is $14.53 to $25, per hour. UTILITY MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN: The City of Sanibel is accepting applications for the position of Utility Maintenance Technician to perform a wide range of skilled work in the maintenance and repair of City wastewater treatment, collection, and reuse facilities. Requires high school diploma or GED and vocational training/certification; supplemented with 2 years responsible experience in maintaining and repairing wastewater equipment, pipefitting, welding, electrical controls or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training. Florida CDL with airbrakes endorsement is an ABSOLUTE REQUIREMENT. Class C Wastewater Treatment Plant license preferred. Candidates will be screened for interview purposes based on experience in maintaining and repairing wastewater equipment, experience in pipefitting, welding, and/or electrical controls repair. Salary is $14.53 to $25 per hour based on experience and training. BUILDING INSPECTOR: The City of Sanibel is accepting applications for a part-time, as-needed, Building Inspector, to perform the inspection of plumbing, electrical, mechanical and other related inspections for building construction. Florida driver’s license and certification as a Building Inspector (1 & 2 Family and more) in the State of Florida is an ABSOLUTE REQUIREMENT. The successful candidate will have a high school diploma; and five (5) years related technical experience and/or training in the building/construction field. Salary range: $16.39 to $29.64 per hour based on experience. Sanibel Causeway tolls and Cape Coral bridge tolls paid, if applicable.
