MARTIAL ARTS CLASSES NOW OFFERED FOR YOUTH AND ADULTS AT
SANIBEL RECREATION CENTER
REGISTER NOW FOR SHITO RYU KARATE
Registration is now open for youth and adult Martial Arts classes. The City of Sanibel Recreation Center is now accepting registrations for Martial Arts classes, which will begin on March 10, 2008. Each session runs for 4 weeks on the following dates and times:
Session 1 March 10, 17, 24, 31 2:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Session 2 April 7, 14, 21, 28 2:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Session 3 May 5, 12, 19, & June 2 2:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Session Fee: $40 members/$50 non-members
Session 2 April 12, 19, 26 & May 3 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Session 3 May 10, 17, 31 & June 7 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Session Fee: $40 members/$50 non-members
Participants learn the history and tradition of classic karate with its modern day application in the authentic style of Shito Ryu. Chief Instructor Carmen Diaz offers 20 years of experience in Martial Arts instruction for children and adults and is the current President and Owner of Kurokawa Martial Arts. Instructor Diaz holds a 5th Degree Black Belt in Shito Ryu Karate; 3rd Degree Black Belt in Kenei Ryu Kobudo with expertise and rank in Staff, Nunchaku, Kama, Sao, Tonfa and Japanese Sword; Renshi Certification (Master Instructor) and has won numerous medals in Competitions at Regional and State Levels. Additionally, Instructor Diaz holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Health from Florida State University.
