Last evening, the Sanibel Police Department received a report that on Saturday, August 23, 2008, a white male in his 40’s driving a small white four door vehicle pulled alongside several children attempting to engage them in a conversation for several minutes.

In a special emergency session, the Sanibel City Council announced a MANDATORY EVACUATION order for tourists and visitors in transient housing (Hotels and Condominiums) on the Island. Sanibel Police are distributing flyers announcing the evacuation.
