Administrative Services Mission

To serve the City of Sanibel by providing quality, efficient, and responsive personnel and labor management services consistent with modern organizational principles; attracting and retaining a highly trained, qualified, diverse, and effective work force; promptly addressing and responding to the risk management needs of the City; and researching and developing grant proposals for capital and non-capital improvement projects.

COMPUTER SUPPORT SPECIALIST: Sanibel, Florida, an environmentally sensitive sanctuary barrier island community, is seeking applicants for the position of Computer Support Specialist primarily supporting the Police Department with IT knowledge and experience in Law Enforcement systems, technology, video and security. Additional IT knowledge and experience needed in MS Office, Outlook, current Microsoft desktop and server operating systems, Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox, installation, modification, troubleshooting and minor repairs to personal computer, server hardware and software systems, and technical assistance to system end users. Must have an understanding of Ethernet and business networking. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent college or technical school training combined with strong Police Department IT experience, and appropriate current IT Industry certifications. Experience conducting needs analysis and detailed review and analysis of various computer technology options to automate law enforcement applications, processes and facilities as well as strategies to resolve organizational issues is preferred. Police Department IT experience includes knowledge and the ability to manage surveillance and in-car video systems, mobile data terminals, integrated database programs and various communications systems. Candidates will be screened for interview purposes based on related experience and training. Successful FDLE/FBI fingerprint background check required. Salary range: $16.40 per hour to $29.64 per hour. COMPUTER SUPPORT SPECIALIST (PART-TIME): The City of Sanibel is accepting applications for the position of Computer Support Specialist, part-time, to perform a variety of Level 1 Computer Support duties. Must have proficient knowledge of:

- Microsoft Office (includes Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Web browser (Firefox, IE)
- Windows XP/7
- Routine computer troubleshooting including PC’s, laptops, iPad, printers and monitors

Must have a valid Florida driver’s license. Prefer industry certifications and good understanding of TCP/IP networking. Work will be 15-30 hours per week with a flexible schedule, but must to be able to work sometime between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday - Saturday. Pay $16.39 per hour. ADMINISTRATIVE RECEPTIONIST/SECRETARY, (PART-TIME): The City of Sanibel is accepting applications for the position of Administrative Secretary, part-time, up to 35 hours per week, to perform high-level secretarial duties in the Administration Department. Prior experience in a government setting is preferred. Exceptional computer skills relating to word processing, spreadsheets and web site maintenance required. The ideal candidate will have a two-year college degree or higher and four years responsible clerical, secretarial or administrative experience with required computer skills. LIFEGUARD, (PART-TIME, AS-NEEDED): The City of Sanibel is accepting applications for the position of Lifeguard, to supervise the activities of swimmers, maintain the pool and surrounding areas and assist in conducting recreational activities and events at the City pool. High school diploma or equivalent and possession of a valid Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR and First Aid Certifications required. Pay $13.00 per hour. Unlimited Causeway transponder provided or tolls paid. DISPATCHER: Sanibel, Florida, an environmentally sensitive sanctuary barrier island community, is accepting applications for the position of Dispatcher to perform highly responsible, specialized work involving receiving, screening and dispatching emergency calls through the police emergency communications system. Employee is responsible for accurately and efficiently initiating appropriate City, County, State and Federal Police, Fire and/or EMT emergency assistance. High school diploma or GED; supplemented by a demonstrated ability to follow and clearly provide complex written and oral instructions with a high degree of accuracy and responsibility under stressful conditions. Pay $13.19 to $22.79 per hour based on experience. Benefits include health, dental, life and AD&D insurance, defined contribution plan, vacation, medical and personal leave, 9 holidays, reimbursement for co-pay for annual physical and cancer screening, and unlimited causeway transponder and Cape Coral bridges transponder, if applicable due to residence, and beach parking sticker.
