Sanibel City Hall offices will be closed in observance of Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11, 2008. The offices will re-open Wednesday, November 12, 2008.

All garbage, recycling and vegetation waste collection by Waste Pro scheduled for the week of Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2008 will run as scheduled.

Sanibel Councilmember Jim Jennings has been appointed to the 2008 Florida League of Cities Legislative Committee. The Legislative Committee will review the recommended legislative priorities of the League’s five legislative policy committees.

Sanibel Mayor Mick Denham has been awarded the “Conservationist of the Year Award” on Thursday, October 23rd by the Audubon of Southwest Florida at the 11th Annual Environmental Breakfast at Riverside Community Center hosted by Southwest Florida Council for Environment Education & Audubon of Southwest Florida.

Halloween is on Friday, October 31st, 2008. The City of Sanibel Police Department is suggesting trick-or-treating between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Residents and visitors are reminded that the Periwinkle Way Improvement Project, between Donax Street and Lindgren Boulevard, will continue through November 15, 2008.

The City of Sanibel City Council will hold an educational session concerning Breast Cancer Awareness on October 21, 2008, 8:15 a.m. at MacKenzie Hall, prior to the regular City Council meeting where a proclamation declaring October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month will be read.

Over 44 participants attend this week’s popular Stabilization Ball class, which will now be expanded to twice a week.

The City of Sanibel’s Sign Regulations (Chapter 106, Section 106-136 of the City of Sanibel’s Codified Ordinances) define specific standards for Temporary Political Signs.

The City of Sanibel is accepting resumes for a contractual Tennis Program Coordinator with USPTA or equivalent certification.
