The Sanibel Recreation Center is beginning registration for the Jr. Mints Youth Cheerleading Team. The Jr. Mints are a non-competitive cheerleading team. Participants need to be between Kindergarten and Fifth Grade.

This Veterans Day, take some time to stay “Fit 4 Life” at the Sanibel Recreation Center! The Recreation Center will operate under normal business hours and maintain all land and water aerobics classes on Thursday, November 11th.

The City of Sanibel Vegetation Committee is offering guided native plant tours of City Hall grounds, which have been planted solely with native plants.

The City of Sanibel Recreation Center will host the Radiology Regional Center’s Mobile Mammo Coach on Friday, December 10th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

As a final phase of the recent asphalt resurfacing of Sanibel-Captiva Road, from Gulf Pines Drive to Pine Avenue, permanent thermoplastic road striping will be applied over the existing temporary striping. The work should take approximately 3 days to complete. Every effort will be made to minimize inconvenience to the public.

The Sanibel Fire District will offer complimentary blood pressure screening at the Sanibel Recreation Center on Monday, November 1st from 9 a.m. until Noon.

Effective October 1st, 2010, Veolia Environmental Services is the City’s franchised solid waste hauler. The contract requires Veolia to provide lock bars for dumpsters upon request at no cost to the customer.

State Senator Garrett Richter, District 37, will not be able to be here at the November 2, 2010 City Council meeting due to an unforeseen conflict.

Join us for an exciting new line up of fitness classes starting Monday, November 1st at the Sanibel Recreation Center. Classes offered for all ages and fitness levels. Try out our two newest classes Zumba and Weight Room Orientation.

The Island Water Association will be repairing a portion of Sanibel-Captiva Road on Thursday, October 28th, from 8:00am to 3:00pm. Every effort will be made to minimize inconvenience to the public. Users of Sanibel-Captiva Road should plan on additional travel time when accessing the section in front of the Ding Darling Wild Life Refuge entrance.

Complimentary body composition analysis will be offered at the Sanibel Recreation Center on Wednesday, October 27th from noon until 2:00 p.m.

Join the Teen Scene for a spooky walk on Monday, October 25th at the Calusa Nature Center in Fort Myers. Remember there is no school the next day on Tuesday!

Monday, October 25th and Tuesday, October 26th are Fun Days at the Sanibel Recreation Center. Fun Days are for grades kindergarten through eighth and will operate from 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

The Sanibel-Captiva Lions Club will be providing free Vision and Hearing Screenings on Friday, October 22nd from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Sanibel Recreation Center.

Sanibel City Council is now accepting applications for the Historical Preservation Committee

Effective October 18th, Sanibel residents and property owners will purchase their Beach Parking Permits at the Sanibel Recreation Center, 3880 Sanibel-Captiva Road. Beach Parking Permits will no longer be sold at the Sanibel Police Department.
