Sanibel Recreation Center Celebrates Second Year on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 3:45 p.m.

December 1, 2009 marks the second anniversary of the opening of the Sanibel Recreation Center. Plans are underway to celebrate this occasion with the community and children who participate in the after school recreation program. This is the 2nd year that the Center has been open and many in the community enjoy the various opportunities the Center has to offer. There are currently 2,899 active semi-annual and annual Recreation Center members.

“For many of us, it is hard to remember the old facility and we appreciate the commitment of the City to help build this facility and improve the quality of Islanders’ lives,” said Melissa Congress, a Parks and Recreation Committee Member and event co-chairperson. Children of different ages are writing poems entitled “What I Love Most about the Recreation Center” to share at the anniversary celebration. On December 1, 2009, the festivities start at 3:45 p.m. Cake and healthy snacks will be served until 5:00 p.m.
