Household Hazardous Waste Collection

Improper disposal of oil-based paints, mineral spirits, pool chemicals, pesticides, and other home chemicals can pollute our sensitive Sanibel environment. Our wetlands would be especially vulnerable if a hurricane-related storm surge hit Sanibel Island.
Latex paints can be disposed of with your regular garbage as long as the paint is completely dried out. To speed up the drying process, add an absorbent such as sand, kitty litter, or crumbled newspaper that completely absorbs all liquid.
